I was born and raised in Los Angeles, coming from a large Latino family. I identify as a Lesbian/Queer Xicana.
When I was 22, in the second half of the 1970’s, I had an experience that would lead me on a journey of Spiritual, Racial and Cultural rediscovery.
I began to study the Healing Arts, in earnest, in 1980. I studied and became certified in Massage Therapy and Reflexology in the Los Angeles area. I simultaneously began to study Tai Chi Chuan, which led me to Meditation and Taoist Yoga. My intention was that my massage practice would be a springboard to more spiritual and energetic healing methods.
In the mid 1980’s, I became a REIKI practitioner, becoming attuned in the 1st and 2nd degrees. At this point I got introduced to Bach Flower Essences and began to study them, as well as the California essences.
When I moved to the North Bay in the early 1990’s, I continued my Reiki studies to become attuned in the 3rd degree, with the intention to teach Reiki.
In the mid 1990’s I became interested in pursuing Early Childhood Education, as well. I was supporting the Latino Community in Sonoma County by teaching in preschool classes that were focused on children with Special Rights. As I studied and became more proficient, I wanted to expand my knowledge of young children and moved on to work as a teacher in a Reggio Emilia inspired environment in Berkeley. The school I worked in also sent me to Italy for a conference in Reggio Emilia, Italy to deepen my understanding, experience and expression as an Early Childhood Educator. I also facilitated the Spanish Program of the school for ten years.
I continued to add to my Medicine Bag and began to be called upon to hold Ceremonies and Circles for women as we came into the 2000’s. I also became active as a spiritual speaker for Lesbian events in the Bay Area.
In the last 15 years I have also studied and incorporated Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Energy Alchemy in my practice.
All of the practices and methods that I have shared here, as well as others, are all methods that I have been drawn to for Healing and Wellbeing on my own Path and Journey through the years. I only utilize those therapies that have helped me. It is important for me as a Curandera (Healer) that I am as healthy as I can be and that I can share that with you. All of my work comes together in a way that allows me to support and empower children and women.
My life is one that is dedicated to Spirit, to all that is Sacred. May we support each other on this Journey.
May you be Well. May you be Blessed.
